After a good night's sleep we got to the train station about 9:00 to take a 45 minute trip to Sintra. The train goes straight to the old town area where we caught a bus up the mountain to the Pena Palace. The palace used to be a monestary until 1838 when King Ferdinand II purchased the place and decided to turn it into his own palace. The views are gorgeous and the castle itself is very colorful. In 1910, there was an uprising and the republicans took over. Elsa, Ferdinand's second wife escaped from the castle.
After three days in the same clothes we decided to go buy a few things in case the luggage didn't make it. We struggled to find anything, but bought the basics to at least make us feel a little more presentable. About and hour after we returned both of our bags were delivered. Below is the outside of the mall.
We ate this evening at Ribadouro. This is a picture of one of the four pieces of Tiger shrimp. It was grilled and yummy!
That shrimp looks delicious 😋
